Low front is getting on my nerves

Featured Replies

The overly low front on my Octavia is gettin my nerves, has anyone found a way to increase the clearance without too much cost?

Haha, never had it this way round. Depends what you want to lift, if its engine, I used 20mm engine and gearbox mount spacers. If its the suspension itself, you could go with graystone spring assistors. They sit between the coils and lift the car a little but also stop the bottoming out.

Get your front shocks checked. Mine were worn out when I removed them to fit coilovers. Car rubs less now it's stiffer even though it's lower

You could fit springs from a non vRS to raise it 15mm

OP says he has an L&K.

Springs wear low with mileage, so a new set of front springs might sort it. Could you measure the vertical distance from the wheel centre to the arch top?

Cheers for your replies

I suspect the suspension is indeed buggered and needs work, bushes dampers & springs which will probably resolve the front rubbbing.

All makes perfect sense.

Could you measure the vertical distance from the wheel centre to the arch top?

What would you expect this to be please?

I can't remember the official distance, but I get 3 fingers, about 60mm, from the tyre top to the arch; car has done 110_000 miles and has same size wheels and tyres as a stock L&K.

pain in the backside they are too low and i struggle to get over speed bumps, there is a road just up from me and the bumps are massive and i always scrape the engine cover try to avoid that road as much as possible.

i have the same problem........
