Fitting londoncolour hIDs

Don't worry, think I've Sussex it

You should have two spade connectors in the kit red and black/brown (from memory)

The spade connectors fit into the black plastic clip that would normaly connect to the two metal prongs on the standard bulb.

The rest of the kit with the ballasts etc just connect up the only way that is possible, it's very self explanatory when you start to do it.

Doh, you could have saved me some typing there lol

Haha sorry John - but thanks anyway.

What was confusing me was that I hadn't seen the spade connectors or the clip that goes into the red bit (I assume this is an extension effectively and that otherwise the black clip would just go into the red bit)

Like you say, once I got it all laid out on the table it made sense. Just need to work put how to stuff it all into the light housing now.......

No probs mate.

I've got my ballasts outside of the headlight cluster.

One wedged beside the battery, and the other down the inside edge of the wing.

I drilled holes through the plastic cover that you remove to change the bulbs, just big enough to get the black connector block through.

Then the rubber grommet that is in line with the wires fits very snugly in the hole and effectively seals it.

Never had any issues with them, and had them in 2yrs and best part of 60,000 miles now

If none of the above makes any sense and you need any help or pics just give me a shout.

How did you stick the ballasts down? I'm thinking of number plate fixings......

Having said that I'm gonna try and stuff them inside the cover, as I'd prefer to have them all waterproof, etc

I used double sided sticky pads, exactly like numberplate pads yeah.

And to be honest if I thought I could have got it all to fit in the cover then I would have gone down that route instead

Ominous. Now wondering if I've left myself sufficient time and daylight hours........

Oh we'll, will soon find out. Heading over to my friendly neighbourhood Briskodian for coding shortly ;)

When Mike H fitted mine for me he got them fitted into the space inside the lamps so the dont even show in the dust cover, they work well but with one very annoying problem, when I go to full beam the one fitted to the off side goes out so I have to turn the lights off and back on so it comes back on again.

Have contacted London colour for a fix they suggest a wire from the battery to the ballasts, but I have told them it could be a faulty ballast, anyone any idias of what to check or do about it

Mine go completely inside the the headlamp unit. No drilling, no external parts. Looks completely normal and covered up.

They have never not worked, sometimes I get a NS bulb out warning, but the lights are actually functioning correctly This seems to be related to the vehicle being switched off with the tunnel lights on.

Either a restart after a wait, or a fiddle with the dip/flash stalk sorts it out. Maybe a grown up knows better? I turn the lights off now. Usually.

Maybe a grown up knows better?

:D

I turn the lights off now. Usually.

I think you should - the destructions included state that starting the engine with the HIDs on has potential to fry te ballast.

Never had any problems with mine, i normally starts the engine with the lights on only cause i forget to turn them off the night before.

Bought a set of these non-can bus ones about 3 months ago and coded using VCDs, they tuck in quite nicely into the headlight unit without the need for screws.

Reassuring to know that you both have had no problems from starting up with the lights already on - although I'm gonna play it safe and try I stop it, your experiences will help stop me panicking when I inevitably forget to turn the lights off when I leave the car (seeing as there is no warning buzzer on my model).

Lights not in yet - temporary (hopefully) coding issues - it seems that whilst my car is a pre FL on the outside, the electronics share more with te FL model. I'd gone for it because I'd seem suggestions that the FL could be coded (just not necessarily the very latest 2012 models) and am hoping a solution can be found.

If anyone has had experience if successfully coding FL models, particularly 2009/10, feel free to chip in with any advice ;)

AWOL, are you using non CanBus?

Yup - I've since seen that this may be against current advice for FL models - but there seem to have been some who have managed to code them in and I think vectra1 was one of those. I seem to recall that there have been a couple of posters who hae simply fitted them and suffered no problems.

Problem is that my car isn't a FL - although it was one of the last models before them........

Mines is a FL 2012 model, I had issues with coding as well, i could not find the option for "xenon's without shutter" as most people were suggesting on this site. In the end i ticked the box that said "xenon's with shutter" found under 09 Central Electric as this was the only option available.

I did discover however that further along the bytes there an addition option which lets you enable or disable xenon's with and without high beam (using latest version of VCDs), I left the box unticked for "without high beam". All my lights are working.
