maf sensor differences?!

Featured Replies

Are there any differences in the bosch maf sensor and an aftermarket sensor? Guy at ecp seems to think buying a bosch is just daft.....just looking for some solid advice really.....thanks a lot!

Bought a Bosch one from ECP and it's worked fine for 25k so far. Wouldn't trust any of the cheaper ones - either they don't work to start with or fail prematurely.

1st hand i tried a genuine delphi, car ran ok, but wasnt quite right. So i returned it twice for replacements under warranty and subsequent 2 were exactly the same so i ran with it for a month.

Then i saw an old secondhand tested working bosch on ebay for a tenner so i bought that and plugged it in, im not joking the difference was astonishing - to drive with the delphi essentially was working, but the power delivery on the bosche was far superior.

I gave the delphi to a friend with a maf issue and after another month it failed whereas the old dusty hector i bought is still working perfectly and thats now 12 years old.

I bought an after market sensor for a 1.8T, when it first went on, wow, what a difference, the car ran as sweet as a nut........after around a 1000 miles the car started to hesitate and hunt a wee bit, went to the stealer and had the correct MAF fitted, 8000 miles later it was still running perfectly.

I wasted €45, in future I'll stick with VAG parts

Well just put my new maf on so will see if it helps out. cheers for the advice guys.

Genuine VAG MAF only or you will probably be buying twice.

genuine ones are Bosck i do believe

Yep Bosch, never seen a Delphi MAF before!

Arnt they the fleabay ones?

Cant go far wrong with bosch.

I've known of several people who've tried to save money buying pattern part MAF's, & they've always landed up having to buy a genuine VAG. I myself bought one for a mkiv Golf from GSF once & the car was undriveable, they swapped it & that was just as bad. Stuck a VAG one in, & it was perfect. Lesson learnt :wall:
