CH/LH lights

Featured Replies

Just had my CH/LH lights activated by a top chap with vcds but they don't want to work despite everything being ticked etc. My octy doesn't have auto lights but others have got this to work so just wondered if anyone has any ideas??

Mine are activated (as fogs) in maxi dot but don't yet work. I read somewhere that there is a setting for auto or manual that also needs ticking - don't know yet though......

If you've had them done in VCDS there is a setting that sounds backwards (something to do with "personalisation" IIRC). Setting this backwards made the CH/LH work. (although I do have autolights)

Tried ticking the box for auto or manual but didn't make any difference. Maybe its the personalisation bit that needs looking into then?

if you have the facelift (w/o auto lights) you can have only coming home lights ... in vcds set the coming home to manual and you will need to flash the headlight once to activate the coming home lights.

however, if you have the pre-fl(w/o auto lights) afaik you can both the ch and lh but they would come on no matter what time of the day it is, i.e. it will not depend on the ambient lighting.

I tried several variations, I even took my Auto Lights switch out of my car to try.

There was an issue with the battery that had logged a low voltage in the BCM

although I doubt this could have stopped it working

Driving home something else niggled me slightly.......I also seem to recall there's a "logic" option too (old logic / new logic)

Reminder: this is on a '57 Elegance. ;)

Got the ole girl to the stealers, battery test says its fine so left with them & back into same said courtesy car so will see what happens in the morning.

With my Ambiente (pre-FL) I have CH lights that stay on for a designated period of time after the ignition is switched off irrespective of daylight.

I can't get LH lights though. The lights only come on again when the ignition is turned.

Afaik the lh should also be working on the pre fl ..

Could be down to the bcm version ..!

Seen else where about a personalisation in vcds for this, ring any bells with any one?

I've never had a problem activating CH/LH on a pre-FL, regardless of light sensor fitment.

I'll need the personalisation option later, as I need to hook up VCDS to mine anyway. My memory only goes as far as activating Byte 0, Bit 5 & 7 for LH & CH respectively.

The car is a Facelift

I haven't had any issues coding this on a old style BCM either

Oh yes, so it is - missed that :)

Well there's the problem then - haven't seen them work on the FL without the light sensor fitted.

Must be that the newer controllers look for the presence of the sensor, for CH/LH to work?

There's other facelifts on here that have got them to work but mine just doesn't want to play the game.

Anyone know how easy/difficult it is to retro fit auto lights?

I know the screen is different but i have a couple of small chips in mine now thanks to the foreign truck driver who pulled out in front of me yesterday, so i could get that changed when i replace it

Would be interesting to know who's managed that on an FL without auto lights. Because from what I've seen it isn't possible. Do you know who's done it?

Screen retrofit - not sure on the wiring down from the screen sensor. Then an auto lights switch and a cable back to the CECM which can be done with a repair wire.

i have seen quite a few facelifts with vcds over the past 2 years, havent as of yet come across any facelift without the light sensor being able to activate the ch and lh lights .. coming home is definitely possible to activate without the light sensor but it requires dipping the headlights once for them to come on for the designated time.

hope this helps you ... I think skodateile supplies the auto dimming interior mirror with the light sensor for retro fit ... but cant confirm ... better off if you just shoot an email to him.

Get the screen changed, source parts 2nd hand or it will cost an arm and a leg

When I had a faulty RLS on my golf I picked up a new one on ebay for £30

The mirror is the same as in the golf Mk5

Loom I could make up
