Flashing glow plug light

Featured Replies

Hello, I have searched the forum regarding this problem and I noted that it tends to relate to a faulty brake switch, my car has just develped the fault and as I type this I am unable to chech the rear lights properly as I am in the house alone at the moment.

My question is, assumming the brake slights do work, as I believe they sometimes do, does this mean the glow plugs are being intermittently powered or is this a false indication due to a fault in the brake switch?

It also doubles as the engine management light. If it's flashing it's either the brake light switch or an engine fault.

I call MBF on that; once it's dark, reverse close to a wall, turn the sidelights out, put you foot on the brake, and look in the mirrors.

What Ken said! This is how I check my lights everyday (when reversing in my garage).

Thanks , when wifey returned I got her to stand by whilst I applied brakes and non of the lights are working, it's parked on the drive in such a way that there isn't anything reflective at the back that would completely confirm that non of the lights were working.

Check the current switch is locked into place properly, otherwise the chances are you need a replacement switch

First check your bulbs. I know someone who had a similar problem and he found all brake bulbs had blown because he had no way of easily checking they were working.

Really!? I'm not being funny, because Octys usually have somewhere between 7 and 23 separate brake luminaires.
