ASR Light Querry

OEM's spend a lot of time tuning the ABS/TCS/ESP systems on different models of cars. I tune jags and land rovers and there's often quite a big variation in calibration between variants of the same vehicle depending on how sporty it's supposed to be, when interventions occur and how strong they need to be, so i'm not surprised you can feel the difference.

If you start playing with your engine maps, springs ARB's, dampers etc then if the calibration is quite tight you'll probably see all sorts of unusual false interventions, since that's not what the car was tuned on.

I'm surprised how loose the calibration is on my 110TDI, only really see it on snow

You can also fire it by pulling away with full torque and about half a turn of lock on. That said, it appears to be much more aggressive on the 1.8T than on the TDis.

I dont no if you can help but............. my ASR light flashes like mad and cuts all power for about 30-40 seconds then i get it back?????

I have a stage one map ( 196 bhp 235 nm torque) a de-cat and a full 2.5 ss system.

Do you think it might be the map thats messing it up, if i drive with the ASR off its no problum and i get massive wheel spin but then the boost peek drops from 17-19 psi to 4-5 psi and i have to turn the car off and then back on to get my boost back?

Any info/help whould be grand,

Thanks Marko

Sounds like limp mode, but not sure as mine has never done it. But generally I think you get a loss of power that can be temporarily resolved by restarting the engine. I would get it scanned for fault codes with VCDS, should give you some clues as to what the problem is.
