Bluetooth blues...

Featured Replies

Having gone through a bunch of phones at work I have yet to find one that is compatible with the car  Dec 2008 Superb Elegance. Looks like I may have to change the bluetooth module but have a few questions:

I know it is located under the drivers seat but how do I get to it?

Once I can see what version it is how difficult is it to find a replacement newer module?

If I get a replacement does it need setup on the car via computer or is it plug and play?

cheers

Martin

See Sticky Link at the top of the Superb 2 Forum - It's called, rSAP Bluetooth to handsfree Success!

It will contain all the info you will (should) need to change the BT module - Inc Photo's!

Buy a 5K0086730* (* = some letter indicating the version, buy the newest) from CarSystems.pl (also found on eBay) and change the module under the seat. It´s really that easy.

Had a look on their website but that code does not come up with anything

Have you read the thread i linked you into? There's more than just the 5K0 module that will work!

OK will need to take a look over the weekend as am at work just now, however, I have just tried to pair an old phone (Nokia 3109c) to the car and that failed as well with phone not compatible. Maybe I am doing something wrong? It fids the phone no problem but gives the error when I try to connect.

Compatible phones (Stolen from another forum - Not a definitive list by any means) - It would appear, the 3109 Classic IS listed.

I feel the problem you maybe having, is with the amount of phones you can connect - i seem to remember (before changing module) that you need a phone to be connected, to be able to delete other profiles.

No - you are right ukcruiser I had not read it properly, but I have now and just ordered a new module from Germany for a delivery next week. In the mean time I have managed to find a scrappy old Nokia that will connect up so if I take a longer drive I can swap my sim over. You were right about the profile - once I managed to delete the previous one I was OK with the old phone.

Many thanks for the guidance. I now have the quiet weekend shift so it will be a good time to start reading the manual for the car

Martin

martin are you telling your phone to always connect when you pair it. i was having the same problem with my galaxy s3 when you are pairing make sure you tell the phone to auto connect, normally at the bottom of the screen on the phone .

Hi Bill

I don't get that far - it finds my phone on a search but can't connect to it to set up the pairing as it says the phone in not compatible. This is happening with all the more recent phones but some older ones will connect so looks like it is just the units that are supported by the older module that work. I have a temp work around by swapping sim into an old phone but should be OK when the new module arrives. I have an advantage that there is a draw full of about 10 different old phone models (about 500 phones) to play with at work and then 6 or 8 of the latest.

Cheers

Martin

ok martin

your parcel might arrive today sent 9am yesterday.

All swapped - 5 minutes work. HTC Desire C all connected and working fine, address book downloaded and working. Don't think I get texts on the maxidot that someone mentioned but that may be an HTC thing. I may give it a try with one of the Nokia Windows phones at work as I can swap handsets easily and see if it is any different.

The new module has an extra connection (look like a USB mini port) not sure what that is for?

Martin

The SMS function only works on old modules using the rSap technology (old Nokias etc.)
