Another turn in this Fabia case! He eventually text me back the other night saying it was sold but I couldn't for the life of me find out who it could have been to in such a short time without my friends not knowing as a few of them stay near that area.

So last night me and a friend went up to Carnwath and started looking about. Low and behold after looking for about 20 minutes, there it was sitting in his driveway between a white Golf and Toyota Hilux, all frozen over and looking pretty! I didn't manage to get a picture as it was too dark but if I go back I'll get a picture and have a wee look around it! Looked tidy though.

So either he's sold it and the guys not picked it up yet or there's something up seeing as how he's now removed the ad!

You have far to much time on your hands.

I shall keep you posted!

If I was involved I would have snapped it up myself regardless of what was wrong with it! Plus I used to own an RX8 so the Fabia would need to be missing an engine to be more unreliable than that!

It looked like a normal SE except with black wheels and slightly lowered! For something that was on coilovers it actually wasn't that low!

Hi there. I am a newbie on here but am in the market for a Fabia vRS as a 2nd car to go alongside my Impreza STI. I saw this ad also and contacted him the morning after it was listed and he txted me back to say it was sold and could I comment on the ad as it was sold and he he couldn't access the ad to do it as his PC had crashed. He also said if the sale fell through that "I'd be the first person he called" - I won't hold my breath!

On another note there is another vRS for sale on Gumtree in the Prestwick Area here: http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/skoda-fabia-vrs/1004838719 and when i contacted him and asked him some questions about service history, previous owners, when the timing belt had been changed and if it had suffered from any of the common faults such as leaking doors, etc as well as details of the remap he came back with the following reply:

"thats a ridiculous amount of questions youve asked, the cars fine and very quick, yes turbo was replaced as old one (kkk) had gave up so bought a garret unit. There are no fault lights on the car and it is as it is so if u wanna c it u can, 3600 is the final price also."

Is it just me or do people just hand over their hard earned money for cars without getting ths sort of info first? Does anyone on this forum know this car?

Cheers

i'd say your right to ask the questions that you have, most of the time if the info isnt filled in, its because its bad, when everythings filled in apart from "previous owners" its possibly somthing high like 7...

i've never liked gumtree to be honest but you never know whats out there.

Oh and Hi from the Newcastle :)

That's a bit of a strange reply for some generic questions which should be asked with every new purchase!

I don't like Gumtree either, for example last year I was looking for a winter run around so as not to have to run my Mazda in the snow and I phoned one guy about a wee car and he told me him and his mates got really drunk the night before and stripped it for a laugh and he was then too hungover to comprehend putting it back together so he would give me £100 if I just took the parts so he didn't have to do it...
