Gear stick click fixed but gearknob changed

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just got a clicky gear stick fixed on vrs but they have also changed the gear knob to a plain one instead of the chrome one that was on it.

Can someone post a picture of the vrs gearknob so I can compare them. They never said they were going to change it.

Seemingly there is an updated gearstick gaiter that fixes the clicking so I thought that is all yhey were going to change.

Cheers

Dave

There are two types on the MK2 pre face lift I have seen - even on the LE version! Once is dull (which I have) and one is shiny (I wouldn't have called it chrome) which I have seen both on normal and LE vehicles.

Cheers Guys

My wife drives it most of the time and she was in it today. She is very unhappy about it. She says it just doesnt feel like she is driving her vrs. The gear changes are slow and clunky now. It has fixed the clicking but she is devastated that it just doesnt change gear the same. She said its like they have taken the sportiness away.

I need to take it back in so they can check it out.

I think our original gearknob was very like the fabia shiny one and now it looks like a boring bog standard one.

The one in post #5 has been fitted to the facelift vRS for a number of years now.

This is the one from my pre-facelift (upto 2009) Octavia vRS...

That looks like the one we had. The clicking is indeed fixed but it seems clunky and notchy now. The wife is not impressed.

Time to take it back and ask them to take another look.
