I'm looking to change the wheels on my 2008 octavia vrs but I'm unsure what offset will fit. The two sets of wheels I'm looking at are 8 x 18 one with a 45 offset and the other with a 40 offset.

Any ideas as to whether these will fit or will I need specers etc ? The car is standard ride height.

My car doesn't have 18" wheels but I went from 15" with an offset of 50 to 16" ET42 without any issue.

What wheels do you have at the moment and how wide are they?

I currently have the standard 18's but they are pitted and kerbed so instead of a refurb I want to change the wheels. As far as I know the standard wheels are a 54 or 51 offset and just want to know what offset I can use without too much modification to anything.

I mean the width of the wheels (and hence the tyres) just thinking about rubbing on the arches. But if you are going from an ET of 50+ to 40 or 45 they will actually sit further out from the hubs. If they are the same width tyre you will probably be OK, but worse case is the wheels will stick out 14mm more than the current ones on each side.

That's great, will look at car and check clearances etc before I decide.

8x18 et45 will be fine.
