New to Skoda

Featured Replies

Hi

This is to say hello and introduce myself.

I am looking to buy a Skoda Octavia. My choice is the SE Plus but ive been offered a L&K 2.0TDI with Columbus

Its more spec than I need but does anyone have any comments that might help me. Im very impressed with this car for its comfort and mpg. I will use it for 25 mile round journies to the shops and 200mile trips to London. Will the short journies give me problems with the DPF?

Any advice would be appreciated

You should be ok for the 25 mile journeys, provided youre doing the 200 mile ones once / twice a month, this should keep the regens happy.

If the price of the L&K is only a few hundred pounds more that the SE, then take it, you will find specially on the 200 mile trips those extra toys will soon become a necessity rather than a luxury, as you get used to them.

Seeing as you have a merc as well the L&K will probably be closer to the quality / spec you have in that car.

Will be interesting to hear your impressions of the Octy ( whichever you get) compared to the luxury brand of the mercedes.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Thanks guys for the input

I bought one today without the satnav but looking at the Garmin & TomTom I can see they are a better bet. [voice and blue tooth]

I actually went for the 1.8 TSI L&K so thats a DPF prob out of the way

Im looking forward to Skoda style!

I have had the Octy since Xmas and it compares well with the Merc. It seems to be very nippy with a rather sensitive accelerator and brake pedal. The mpg is obviously better at 40mpg v 26 mpg and the servicing & parts costs are much more acceptable. The overall quality is good, but not quite as solid as the Merc. Ive had one problem and thats the rear window wiper fixed by my local garage under the extended dealer warranty that came as part of the deal. Needless to say the value for money of the Octy is exceptional compared to the Merc and the L&K is as good for toys as my Merc, although cars have moved on considerably since I bought my Merc in 2003. The Garmin Ive added covers handsfree Satnav and phone calls better ( thats Tech for you!). The only downside to the Octy is that it is noisier and Id like to "pad" some of the door panels to reduce drumming if I could

All in all Im a happy Skoda driver and the badge is a good one worn proudly!!
