Having front DRLs permanently on?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Can any of you tell me if its possible on my MY11 Octavia to have the front DRLs permanently on? I've noticed that newer models of Mercedes, Ford etc. has this.

Thanks! :)

They are always on, they dim and become your sidelights when you turn your headlights on.

DRLS are designed to be seen in bright daylight, should they not dim, then the same light intensity as during the day, will at night be blinding to oncoming traffic.

This subject has been discussed before, there are no settings to alter as to do so will invalidate the EU type approval for DRL's.

Oh, I thought that was the case with the vRS and not with the 'normal' model. I'm pretty sure my car doesn't have any lighting in the DRLs except when in forced DRL mode or Auto (during daylight) on the light switch.

You are right when it comes to the EU type approval and driving by the law, I am aware of that.

You are right chasba, it’s only the vRS that illuminates them all the time (dimmer for side and main lights).

It’s not possible on cars that have the DRL’s in the fog light housing.
