Swapping over seats parts?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Keeping it simple, I've got OEM leather and the drivers seat it starting to show some signs of wear. Since my passenger seat is like new is there anyway of swapping the seats aside from simple switching positions so I can retain the height adjustment on the seat. So swapping over the padded parts only on the frames so to even out the wear? Don't mind doing it even its time consuming as its something I feel worth doing.

Many thanks guys,

Jordan

Look for the recent thread about swapping seat componenents and subframes about. Someone showed how to break down the seats and swap mk4 platform seats onto the Fabia's subframes. Also showed how to dismantle the seats. Was int he past 2-3 weeks, I think.

If your OEM leather seats have internal airbags, then swapping them over will not work since the airbag will end up on the wrong side. Otherwise, I don't see any problems in swapping the main parts over.

I just have the standard leather to airbags so shouldn't be an issue thanks :)

This the one? http://www.briskoda....r/#entry3017917

Seems too easy to be true lol

I followed this with no problems. Fitted a different interior following this guide!

I have a Polo cloth covered seat with airbag, good upholstery, head restraint and underseat storage drawer going for a tenner ( collect north London) if it's of any use to swap parts. Photos available, let me know.

I did the passengers no problem, bear in mind, drivers had a different size bolt

Youll need M7, M8 & M10 sockets, mainly used M8 & M10 but sure drivers was a smaller size iirc

Octavia seats break down exactly the same, go steady with the trim I nearly broke one of the screw parts

Thanks, I always get impatient with trim I'm nearly sure to damage something lol any advice for the trim?

Me too haha, check loads for the little screws some are hidden really well...it doesn't need pulling hard at all, and its a bit of a faff to put back on cos of how loose it sits without the bolts so don't yank anything. The seat adjuster for the back of the seat needs a good yank though...and you'll need a long thin t10 (or whatever t it is) to get into the height adjustment lever to remove trim completely.

Once you've done it once its easy and will have no problems putting it all back as not many steps

Spline sockets needed to remove the seats. May need some mole grips too as they round easily.

Ok thanks for the all, should have all the tools, I've had the seats out for cleaning multiply times so that bit is straight forward lol thanks all :)
