Featured Replies

Found this old post http://www.tdisport.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=8048

About useing a 330d turbo on a bora sport and i have been donated a turbo Matched it up to a manifold off a spare turbo if i mill out the edges a bit itll bolt up My mate has spare feed and return pipe also downpipe flanges are £4 new on ebay

Anyone heard of it being done would make a impressive sleeper!

anything is possible just most dont because its not bolt on and go ;-)

Itll deffo bolt up just need to enlarge the bolt holes on the turbo. Two line up atm but on the side with two holes its 2/3mm off the third bolt. On the manifold side theres 5mm either side you could drill out.

I like the challange :D my standard turbos a bit on the leaky side so thinking of swapping it out while im swapping the engine. New turbos massive though will put up some pictures later when i get in.

Do it :)

Looking at the two turbos on the yellow and black tool box left is the old turbo vs the bm turbo right.

Even found the flange on ebay item no: 350464485090

Gonna get the drill out tommorow and get it bolted up ill need to try and widen the manifold to turbo feed as theres a bit of a difference lol had the chalk out and theres a bit of meat i could loose. :D

People in US have attached these to the older TDI engines. Think they are usually VNT20 garretts (as opposed to VNT 17 on the normal 1.9 engine)

Gt2556v is the code of my donated turbo ive tryed researching it but cant find out what the vnt number is or much info on.

If its a vnt20 i found a site which suggests

I will need to uprate my inlet airbox maf etc to help it breathe its a 110 sport engine. Which i think is non pd (new to tdis lol) so i reckon itll be a .216 injector route aswell.

Urinateing in the wind but i guess ill learn as i go :D

All good fun. 2556v sounds big. If you find you want to buy your way out, Darkside Developments will no doubt have a suitable turbo. The new VK range of turbos are proving to be much better than their just "V" predecessors.

I had a hybrid gt20 on my old golf tdi with gt25 internals i think!

Was good for 250+ bhp

Lmao its a big turbo like its actualy a 530 turbo but my mate assures me its the same as a 330 with slightly larger internals. Im gonna try n run this turbo if its not too crazy to put it togher as i allready have a few things mid conversion :D

He is affectionetly known as fat jon and is actualy a mechanic but hes just done a turbo in his brothers 330d hence the basis for comparison. Theres a bit of play on the shaft so gonna price refurb on it asked his brother this morning who reckons his was 310 recon.

Gt20 with gt25 internals is said to be the lag free solution to the turbo ive got lmao if you read that uk mk4 post. Take it that was fast lol
