fabia comfort tdi electrical help

Featured Replies

hi guys, ive been lurking awhile but thought it was time i registered as i could do with some advice if possible?

i have a 1.9tdi fabia comfort

issues are,

speedo doesnt always work

asr button/disable doesnt work

clocks occasionally do funky things

abs light is on constantly

handbrake light flashes

temp reading on clocks is way off

work done.

brand new bosch s5 battery

scanned with vagcom and it wont connect to abs module at all

carried out output tests on clocks and results were odd.

at the minute i suspect faulty abs module but was wondering if dodgy clocks would cause any problems relating to the abs ?

convenience module potentially dodgy too? No faults in the engine section? Low temp reading can be the coolant temp sender. Often go.

ABS module sounds a culprit. I assume the ASR light isn't on at the same time (despite the switch doing nothing?)

no faults in ccm, 1 fault in engine relating to no abs signal.

sorry, when i said temp i meant external temp reading, my fault!

no asr light at all nope

Did you run a test on the abs or just an error read? I know my abs module always used to crash if I tried to test it and required power cycling, but would report error codes fine.

Can't do anything with it as vcds will not connect.

Just get "no response from controller"

Sounds daft, but does the ABS work?

If the abs module is faulty, ASR probably wont "disengage" when you press the switch because iirc they are linked through the same controller, so if ABS not working, ASR wont either so cant be switched off.

Have you also checked for earthed wires?

Been and tested, abs doesn't work. Fuse checked out ok too

This eventually turned out to be the washer fluid pipes splitting inside the wiring loom harness for anyone elses future reference. The glycol had rotted the insulation and corroded all the wires in the wiring loom under the ecu, as you can imagine this was a massive job to change.

I would strongly advise anybody who owns a mk1 fabia to stop using the oem pipes and run your own down the inner wings as the oem pipe gets very brittle after a few year with horrific consequences.

Everything works fine now apart from the wipers annoyingly. I have checked the fuses and the motor itself but both are fine so I have ordered a new ccm in the hope it is the relay inside that has failed. I will update this thread once I recieve the ccm.

Its still not working with a 'new' ccm module. I suspect I have bought a faulty unit but is there anything else I could try?

I have power at the green and yellow wire and the motor will run if I earth the body but there is no earth at the brown and black wire, any ideas?
