Boot leaks found...

Featured Replies

I have today water tested the rear of my car and i have numerous leaks into the boot.

1) The rear wipe mechanism leaks water heavily through it, only thing i can think of is to tighten the bolts?

2) both rear brake lights are full of water at the bottom as you look at them from the rear... any ideas?

3) The two vents in the wheel wheel are leaking water through them... any idea?

1) Check the rubber seal first, its the main bit that stops rain water getting in, Other than that check all the washer pipes are connected up as its quite common for them to pop off, do you have the cover over the nut and jet on the rear wiper, seen lots of fabias without them.

2) iirc the rear light clusters have a sponge around them, they dont stay in place very well so probly get thrown away, if you still have the sponge put a few dabs of silicone sealant to hold it in place and then fit the light.

3) when you say the wheel wheel... do you mean spare wheel? :giggle: Dont know what to suggest for that other than blocking them off if you really wanted.

Theres another thread on here which is quite popular at the minute reguarding boot leaks, have a look or do a quick search, might be helpful for you. Good luck

Vents near wheel well are meant to be open to allow air to circulate and reduce moisture.

It apears its the rubber around the rear wiper letting in water there.

I dont have any sponge on my rear brake lights, the water in the wheel well is coming from the vents in the well, the seal around them is just letting water through.

For the sake of £45 im going to let SKODA water test the entire rear of the car and see what they come up with, if its easy fixes i wil do it myself
