Amunsden Screen

Featured Replies

Yesterday, driving along I looked at the touch screen for the radio and it was blank, but the radio was still playing!

I switched it to sat-nav, but the screen remained blank.

So I thought - if in doubt, hit it! NO I stopped the car, switched the engine & ignition off and restarted it. All was back as normal.

Anyone else had a blank screen?

Oh yes, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all - Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda (the language of heaven, of course)

Driving back from Mull in October, I stopped in Callender for fuel, Upon restarting, I found that the volume control on my Columbus unit wouldn't work..... and after a bit more fiddling, I found that none of the controls on the unit or the steering wheel were working either. In fact, although the screen was apparently still showing my route home, it had stalled and said that I was still at the filling station, some 5 miles back.

Having pulled off into a lay-by, I turned the ignition off & removed the key, thinking that this would cure it but... no, the radio continued playing, and I could't find a way of turning it off.

Getting a little exasperated, not the least by the fact that I couldn't silence the rubbish that Radio 2 was playing at that moment, I decided to take the risk of performing a power off "restart" of the unit by removing the fuse (it's in the fuse box by the battery BTW).

Lo and behold. 20 seconds later, the unit had reset itself and normal service was resumed. It's only done it once thank goodness but life was a little fraught for a while!

yes, screen went blank in my sister's Yeti a while back...switching car off and on restored it.
