burning oil

Featured Replies

hi i am new to this site, just not long purchased a skoda fabia 1.4 16v which in its own is a great wee car apart from it burning oil!blue smoke out of exhaust,a lot of people say it could be the rings, but im not convinced, could it possibly be the stem seals on the valves,as this is a cheaper option to replacing the engine straight away!however did work on volswagens years ago and remember thwey used to have a problem with the breather on the back of the engine, used to have to replace the breather and use a piece of welding rod to clear out the 2 holes in the block which go to the sump, any ideas?a do know that the car does have a leak at the front of the engine which i was thinking it would be the rocker cover gasket, any ideas would be appreciated.

car has done 78k and vw engines are usually bullet proof.

My money would be on the valve stem seals needing replacing.

Reasonable assumption on the 16v + factoring in that sort of mileage.

Hi and welcome aboard.
