08 vrs tdi service info

Featured Replies

hi all as mensioned in an earlier post i have just got myself a mk2 octavia 2.0 tdi vrs so i am doing a service soon so just a few questions ie could you tell me what is the best engine oil and amount for this engine also what are the timing belt intervals . also i can feel a very slight warp in the front brake discs could you reccomend a good make of disc and pads for this car any other info would be very much appreciated

As your vRS is a 2008 then it could be either a PD or CR (Common Rail). The vRS TDi PD170 requires 4.3 litres of oil (including the capacity of the oil filter and its housing).

Either way as it is fitted with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) you MUST only use oil that meets the VW 507.00 specification (listed on the container). This is the low ash, long life oil.

Castrol Edge 5W30 is recommended, it is also on offer at the moment at Opie Oils...

Click on the 'service packs' tab and select your engine and you can get the oil filter too delivered to your door.

The cam belt interval on my 2007 PD170 vRS is 80,000 miles but this does change from year to year and engine by engine so you need to check your owners manual.

Skoda UK now have a blanket 4 year interval on all belted engines regardless of mileage. Divides opinion on here but you should never pay more than £299 (or £369 with the water pump) from a franchised Skoda dealer...

To be fair, it is lashing it down with rain here, for £129 I'd be tempted to get the dealer to do, if not simply to avoid crawling under the car!

I'll be servicing mine next time, but it'll be summer by then!

For brakes I've used Pagid discs and Ebc redstuff pads
