Uh Oh, another "What do you think?" thread

Featured Replies

So, what happened was, I bought a new style badge to replace the Transformers Autobot jobby that was on the front grill. When I went to fit it, I noticed the paint on the grill surround was looking a bit tired and flakey so I thought I may aswel refresh it. Trouble is, the only paint I had in stock was Hammerite smooth green so I used that.

It now looks like this:

The Bird likes it and is suggesting we now make the wheels green to match. I'm not so sure. I think I'd prefer white wheels.

So anyway, what do you think? If you don't like it, say so, I can take it :D

I think black magic suited it better tbh :(

To be blunt. It looks naff. Looks like a boy racer jobby.

Post another pic in the daylight as can't tell on my iPhone.

Enjoy going to the shop tomorrow to buy some black magic colour'd paint won't you :)

Not a fan in that pic, as said get a daylight picture up. Alot of people would of bit your hand off for some of that smooth green aswell.

Agreed, I need to re-evaluate in the daylight as my initial reaction is not favourable.

No one is having my smooth green though, I've still got 2 tins :D

It does look a bit MGZR or Brooklands... I'd be tempted to pick a colour and tone that matched that of the Black magic paint (assuming yours is).

A dark metallic or pearlescent (green) could be good, could also do the numberplate surround, whatever you choose.... And maybe the loops around the foglights.

I went for a blue grille before with blue fog lights and it didn't go down too well. Need to see a daylight pic but could be good, especially if you dothe wheels to match

Negative from me.

P.S get some silvertech indicators

smooth green wheels and mirrors yes, grille??? hard to say in the dark pic, put up a daylight one and we may see something totally different, you have seen it in flesh and i dont think the dark pic is helping us to say it it looks good

judgement reserved

Right, the morning has come and the lighting is sort of better so here's a couple of better pics. It didn't instantly offend me when I walked out the door earlier and it did help me find the car in Morrison's car park :D

I think it might grow on me. Might need some more green bits though, perhaps looks a little lost on it's own?

You know what... i quite like that in the daylight!

Not bight enough to offend, Nice little accent to the car.

Some touches to the sides some how like the wheel nut caps

Get the mirrors to match, maybe the wheels? Not too subtle but not the most garish thing ive seen on a Skoda!

My bird wants me to do the wheels aswel. She works at a powder coaters so that's no problem :D. Just gotta find a set of the wheels I want. Looking for the 16" Spiders from the Octavia vrs estate.

Hmm maybe with the fog light slat things aswell, you know the bits some people do carbon effect?

I would love my other half to work in a powder coaters, i would be getting everything done lol.

Actually looks quite good.

Maybe do the chrome on the badge in the same colour. :)

Doesn't look to bad, I think the wheels would be too much but little touches would tie it all in together.

Negative from me.

Was thinking the same needs de-tangoing!

I saw you the other day heading into Aylesbury from the Stone direction, just before the Fairford Leys roundabouts. :)

I'm not sure on it either way though - part of me likes the contrast. Another part thinks it looks like you've damaged that part and green was all you could replace it with.

It reminds me a bit of when Rover did limited editions of the 200 series. Their trim was red though.

A Big no from me, Merry Christmas

just looks like it's got the wrong colour part fitted, like it's the surround from a green Fabia

I'm afraid it's also a no from me too.

i think TAS did something similar with green back in the day
