Gauges

Featured Replies

I posted in the general car section but got next to no response. So I`ll try here.

I want a couple of gauges in my Fabia, namely Boost for looks and Oil temp for practical purposes of checking. The problem I have is I`m not a massive fan of the 3 gauges under the headunit, I`d much prefer to have a single gauge in the drivers vent. The problem is finding a nice dual gauge, ideally one that has analog boost and digital temperature. I`v seen one I like but it`s a 60mm gauge which wont fit in the vent pod. I`v got no other ideas where to put one that is subtle and easy to view so thats kinda ruled out.

Any advice welcome, pictures of your gauge setups welcome too!

What about on the pillar? Just in your eye line to quickly glance over, looks good and not much fiddling required I believe. The wiring or whatever can go up the pillar behind from the dash no problem iirc

Does the oil temp gauge have to be round if it's digital? Thinking out of the box a little.. If it's a rectangular shape could it be mounted in the speedo cluster? (so long as they exist) You could then get a regular analogue one to mount in the driver vent.

I had considered a A pillar mount but there are no straight fit Fabia ones available. I think there is Ibiza ones knocking about but I'd want it to be a perfect fit/match being in such a prominent place.

The rectangle oil temperature & separate boost gauge is a good idea though. If I can find one small enough to tuck in the corner of the clocks somewhere that'd work. Then just a normal one in the vent. I'll have a look about, thanks for the replies guys!

In really think about getting some gauges. I had a boost gauge in my focus, people always used to ask about it and it looked pretty cool!

You could make an A pillar mount one look quite good with a spare A pillar and blend them together. Could even have it dipped or flocked if the finish wasnt 100%.

+1

Thats how id thought about doing it tbh, spare trim, a pillar mount and some fiberglass (y)

Spa design do stinking dual gauges.

I had one on the a pillar once which I used some flet over the gap to blend it into the pillar better

It was this one

Sorry to revive this thread but I didn't feel like this warranted starting a new one! Just my input on position of a boost gauge, I know the wrapping isn't great but it does the job. Resistor is going in at some point to dim the gauge to match the rest but what do you think, where would you mount yours?

I'm not a big fan of them in the vents, just doesn't look right. Well done for giving it a go though!
