New type DRL LED replacement

Featured Replies

Okay done.. after all it's only £25 including P&P so we'll give it a try and see what happens, they are supposed to be arriving on the 29th December, only problem is I don't get back to the UK till end of January so by that time someone else may have reviewed the bulbs and given you the answer...lol

Anyway I'm sure they'll do the job and if not I'm sure I'll find another use for them elsewhere or give them as a present to someone who doesn't have Canbus fitted to their vehicles..

Thank you again

Regards

Ok, I will check this topic and hope someone can give a review real soon, otherwise I have to wait :-)

These might just have enough current consumpsion for the Canbus system to be happy?

So did anyone try these out?

The bulbs arrived but I'm still working in Iraq so I've not been home to fit them.. will have an update for you at the end of the month when I get home.

As you say, these bulbs are from the same supplier as the previous 21W bulbs dicussed here previously. I fitted the 21W bulbs in my 2010 Superb and they have been excellent for over 12 months. I asked this Ebay seller if they still stocked these older bulbs, but he said he has replaced these with the above 16W bulbs, due to Canbus errors experienced with the 21W bulbs (he didn't go into detail as to which cars experienced the problems).

Anyway, instead of buying the 16W bulbs, I am going to buy another set of the 21W from one of two websites I found on Google (the same description as the original 21W Ebay ad).

I would be interested to hear how you get on with the 16W bulbs - although you presumably won't be able to compare the brightness to the 21W ones.

Okay here's an update. On those new LEDs... I fitted them three days ago they are very bright and they do not show any warning lights or Canbus errors, so money well spent ... I think.... Anyway I'll update you guys if they give any issues in the future, but Yes the bright white DRL's look 100% better than the yellow bulbs that were fitted on manufactor ...

What was the longest you continually ran them for? They contain Cree's, so they will heat up a LOT and when they do, cheap ones tend to change colour towards a tinge of blue, a sign of slow failure. It usually takes over 30+ mins for this change to be noticeable. If yours don't, they most probably are quality ones.

Okay they have been used usually for five journeys snd sll of them was for three hours, ive not noticed any bluing in colour they are just bright white.. hope this helps :)

Could you post pics? :-)

Ordered mine and they're on their way.

My Superb is off to get repaired this Friday after a difference of opinion with a deer; I'll get some fitted when it comes back and post some pics here

Must have been tired when I ordered mine. Bought them from their own website, rather than their eBay shop, because carriage worked out cheaper. And ordered 380's 21w/5w - What an idiot! - just went out to fit them and discovered the awful truth

Must phone car-mod-shop in the morning!

car-mod-shop couldn't have been more helpful.

I posted back the bulbs I had ordered wrongly on Wednesday (included a 1st Class Large stamp for them to return the correct ones. Arrived this morning (Saturday)

Result? ---- Bulb failure warning comes on..........

Same ones as the original post, and I guess, the ones ordered by RoDM

So position is, they do throw up a bulb failure on my Superb (2012 model year, registered Dec. 2011)

Throwing up a can-bus error on mine, RoDM - I'm down in Prestwick - could it be an altitude thing? :wonder: (local joke.....)

Weird. Anyways ksr, any chance of pictures of them running? I'm wondering how powerful they are. 16w seems impossible with such little heat sink.

Sorry, Cown. I have removed them, and packaged them up for return to car-mod-shop.

Well two weeks on and the new LEDs are working well in my vehicle with no errors or bluing, very strange & seems that these Canbus problems seem to be temperamental at best and also more sensitive in some vehicles than others, I'm going to leave them fitted as I have no reason to replace them with any other bulbs.

But at any stage in the future if they give me problems I'll be back on here advising you guys

Cheers RodM

I bought these: http://www.ebay.com/...RS:1123&vxp=mtr

Work perfect for a perfect price, they look the same as all the others. So I guess these are 100 procent identical?

No errors :-)

You might just regret it?

These are the exact same ones that overheated, causing fumes that fogged up the glass & chrome reflectors. Took a whole weekend to clean off and it's still noticable.

They had got so hot some of the components had fell off the pcb, it took a few short weeks of 1 hour commutes to occur.

double post "somehow"

Just received mine from here yesterday. They seem to be of great quality, at least by closer look. I ran them for quiet some time outside the car without any problems like colour changing or something melting inside. They seem to have good thermal dissipation when connected to the housing, something very important as they get real hot, almost the same as normal Halogens if not more. They are not Error free, so ordered some Load Resistors along with these. And lastly, compared them to my original "white" halogens by putting them in their original housing; these lights are a league apart! The White is so refined and neat and the brightness is at least 3 times brighter. More importantly, the reach is much wider and longer. Can't wait to fit and test them on road this weekend.
