Induction

Hi

It seems ppl dont like the drilled box and some ppl dont like a box at all and some pple like a nice 3' feed to the box and some ppl like a pipe down to the bumper and some ppl like...................................................................................................................you get my drift?!

This is wat im thinking of getting:

http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649

I think its a good price and will stop the heat soke ( hopfully) and i intend to box in the filter and run a cold air feed to the boxes off bit, im also thing of cutting out a section on the bonnet right over the filter and black meshing it to insure the fillter get all the cold air it can.

Thoughts / show me yours

Do a serch on here for CAI setup.

had a look and im ouite happy with it and will defo b ordering it ( will prob change the filter to a piper X or KnN), need to wate till next week just spent £170 on the Vrs this week lol.

Marko

you do realise that one you have put up is for the Fabia......... wont fit an octavia.

Weird..... Actually says octy and furb ?

Dunno how can do both........

Curious

Unless it comes with puzzle pipes and u use dif bits

Id have a nose for a specific octy one mate just incase

Looks like its made up of a few joins...... not going to seal the pipe to well risk of unfiltered air into the system.

Try this one

On my watch list atm.... untill i get some spare change :)

Just need to bosh a decent filter on the end.

^ that's the one I keep thinking of and painting it satin black so it doesn't look so bad. Larkspeed do the K&N induction kit for the Octavia VRS for £94 ish. Which is another idea with a nimbus heat shield made up to for around it so there's as little heat soak as possible. Just don't fancy paying over £200 for Jabbasports kit.

This heat shield, looks really good stuff.

I got a jabba kit second hand off the bay and agree there is no way i would pay 200 quid for one

I like my jibba jabba :)

There are reason folks don't like drilled air box, coz if you add holes you loose the sealed box that was good at keeping warm engine heat away from the intake to MAF that is detrimental to performance.

Drilled holes are good for extra noise not performance.

The std airbox does a good job at filtering air and keeping heat out.

The std airbox can benefit from subtle mods like a brand new panel filter or a performance panel filter like K&N and also a better / larger air ducting to bring more cold air to the intake than the crapy std inner wing ducting.

This is why some folks mod airbox to take 3" cold air ducting.

That works well. I did a guide on that somewhere.

A CAI is also popular on folks cars and mapped cars.

Mine seems to run better with a CAI than air box.

Have pics if needed.

You are better off getting a solid pipe and filter for your octy than that ebay add that seems universal with lots of joins that could leak air.

True I got my ABD second hand and cleaned the K&N cone. Came up like new

Has anyone actually tested the standard box against one of these on rollers? Id say the box with a clean standard filter comes out on top in most cases

Well I have had runs on RR with my original airbox and my CAI and my CAI actually came out on top marginally. Could be lots of reason, the temp on the day and all sorts. A RR is not where it counts to me. The car feels and better and pulls better with my CAI and that is good enough for me.

Plus looks better and sounds great at the same time.

thanks Bruv I'm now getting this one lol marko

The cai do make a nice sound etc... But the downside is if u go throu a big puddle u can suck up water which happened to a friend of mine which resulted in the engine throwing a conrod out side of the block.. I would keep the standard air box but smooth the inside and put a bigger deed pipe to it. The airbox in the vrs is basically the same as a s3 audi 1 and if its good enough for the power of an s3 its more than enough for a vrs

I ment feed pipe not deed... Stupid rubbish iphone

Must in been one hell of a big puddle. More like a flooded road to get that high.

And if I knew the water was there I would of slowed down knowing the filter was there.

I have had mine on for 4 years with never meeting a large enough puddle or knowing to take avoiding action if I did.

It is also the same reason S3 owners change from a std airbox too.

Not really a performance gain but cosmetic and appearance as well as sound.

I happen to run better with one fitted to my VRS.

Each to their own though.

It is all personal choice buddy.:D

Yeah bowders i no wot u mean. It wosnt a vrs my mte had it wos a real low honda integra. Drove throu puddle car wos ok. Drove for a day suddebly bang. The water build up created a hydrolic lock and it threw a con rod out. He maby shoulda bought a vrs instead of the honda.... Lol

Sorry for rubbish spelling. I have fat inbred fingers and cant work touchscreen phones the best :)
