Think I would be tempted to put new rings etc into it while its apart even if your not doing pistons

I was sure the stock bottom end can cope with 300bhp easily enough. I thought approach/surpassing 350 was roughly when you might want rods?

Not really its a bit of a gamble at 300 especially on the auq engines with smaller wrist pins

Seen them go at 260 and some still going strong at 350+ so you never know

As with all these things, alot of it will depend on how it's driven.

The thing that usually kills rods it torque or hi revs.

So if your loading it up constantly low down, or bouncing it off the rev limiter at every given chance, then your more likely to have issue's.

for the cost of buying those bits and fitting them inc rebuild, you could buy several replacement engines....plenty of auqs have run 300 without issue as already stated!
