Anyone Colour coded the Monte Carlo bodykit ?

Featured Replies

Hi

I just got a white monte carlo, and the only thing I don't like is the black arches/side skirts in black.

Has anyone on here colour coded it to the car at all ??

Cheers

JJ

Well i think you might have a different opinion to every1 else lol. Whilst ive been on here a while i havent heard any1 colour coding it. Would prob look pretty stealth looking. But alao might make the car look too normal if that makes sense.

Hope you find your answer

I can't see why you'd want to, it's the whole reason the Monte looks something different

As said above, I think a lot of vRS owners would love to have the black bodykit on their cars

I think it would certainly be a first if you were to do it

I would question why? I bought my Monte Carlo over a VRS for the body kit, yes the power of the VRS was very tempting but the originality of the Monte sold it.

good luck if you go ahead and share the results with us

I like how the colour combination breaks up something that otherwise would or could be a tad boring. I have seen non Montes in Sprint Yellow and they look lost with all the yellow, the yellow/black or any other colour combination works really well (only criticism could be lower out of the factory)

I had to have a look at some pictures of these and agree on the black making the car stand out. Maybe matching the door strips to body colour would be a "safer" first move?

UK spec Montes don't have door strips, unlike other countries (which can be a pain in the a*** if your parking in a busy car park)

An easy enough fit if you want the door strips.

I like the Monte looks over the vRS because of the contrasting trim.

Colour Coding will be simple enough but needs very good preparation & finishing if it is to last and not devalue your car.

Not a problem if its a 'keeper'.

Thanks for the replies, yeah I do like the Monte, but just looks so high above the wheels.

When I went to pick it up from the dealer there was a white VRS with white roof and back wheels park up behind, and the white monte defo looked the best.

There's your answer :)

Simple solution.......make it low

In response to the OP, I have sort of colour coded the Monte body kit, but only because the car colour is Black Magic so it blends really well :)

Yes the Monte looks more aggressive than the vRS. With our two cars parked side by side callers will always choose the Monte over the vRS. May have something to do with the vRS being race blue, white roof and white alloys that perhaps puts people off. Having said that though, other vRS owners have commented that the Monte does look better.

Both cars sit high above their wheels/tyres. As stu_mcl says, make it low. There is an approved VAG lowering kit (Eibach springs) which can be fitted with no effect on warranty. Springs cost 180 quid with fitting from my dealer being another 180 pounds (you will probably find prices do vary). Definately improves the looks, improves the handling and doesn't make the ride to harsh in my opinion.

The main thing to do though is to enjoy your new car.

having had my Monte for 3 months and driven 5000 miles I do think the car has dropped a bit! it definately is lower than when it was new!

I've considered lowering springs but I notice Skoda only list Eibach springs for the VRS!?

I've been considering colour coding the trim on my monte, think it would be too much red though

Keep it how it is, it's going to look too white IMO with not much contrast.

It won't be cheap to do either as the whole kit would need to be removed to do it properly.

It's your car but the general consensus seems to be leave it alone.

I like the body kit on the Monte but prefer the vrs front bumper. I agree I think the body kit would lose its emphasis if painted body coloured. The arch trims do seem to emphasise wheel arch gap though, so I'd also vote for lowering.

I've got colour coded bodykit, and I love it.
