Drivers side seat belt

Featured Replies

All.

I have recently got to the stage where my drivers side belt will not retract at all. There is just nothing moving at the reel. I have just cleaned the belt but don't really see this as solving my problem.

2 things.

1. Anyone else had this problem and could you fix it yourself (or was it time for a replacement!?)

2. I've been looking around the net for a belt. The cheapest I've found is £120 which seems a bit steep. I have also seen an octavia belt advertised for £30 which appears to be same unit. Are they completely different units? Or the same with a different number?

Cheers

Chris

Not sure about what's causing it, but a trip to a breakers might be in order. Just test the belt before you buy it (pull hard to make sure it catches) and you should be well under £100.

I think I paid £25 for one for my accent when I had that a couple years ago.

I also have the exact same issue, used a generous amount of cleaning product when wiping the belt thoroughly, but still have the same issue, made no change. It use to be absolutely fine.....one day just decided not to retract lol

Mines the same but I think it's connected to leaky door seals because it's OK when the weather dries up.
