when ever I lock my vrs estate from the fob it doesn't work. but using the the it works every time

i have heard its just because water has got into the unit in the door and broke one of the pins. is this correct and do i have to replace the whole unit or can i just replace the pins?

if you un plug the unit just check the pins i had a rusted off one in the window mech control on rh side
