New Octavia owner - few questions

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I recently picked up A 2000 Mk1 Octavia TDi SLX and have a couple of questions..

1. The Blaupunkt RD148 CD player doesn't light up at night when the lights are on, I pulled it out this evening and the illumination wire is getting 12V ok, so is it an internal fault with the lighting in the CD player? apart from that it's 100%

2. Rear pass window doesn't work, I can here a click from it when pressing the switch.. - is it a motor or regulator?

Here it is..

Welcome along :-)

Sadly I don't know much about the locks, so can't help out there....

Is the Blaupunkt a Skoda standard HU? I only ask when I bought mine, it had a pioneer HU and the Skoda one was supplied in the boot (and I have never really looked at it).

Yes the Blaupunkt seems like an original Skoda item, has all the hand books etc with it.. work's 110% apart from not being visible when it's dark!!

Hi, Good luck to you with the new motor.

My Blaupunct radio light went out when the car was about 3 years old and has never come back on again, despìte asking for and getting the other console illumination replaced. I find that you just remember where the buttons are after a while so it´s not missed - it may be something that the unit needs to be taken apart to access.

All the console lights have gone out since, save the HRW and petrol cap buttons, and it´s actually quite nice at night not to have so much light in the car.

I´ve desperate trouble with my 99´s central locking as a result of what I suspect to be corroded door connectors. Hearing that a window´s not working yet seems to be connected suggests that you might investigate the flexible connectors in the rubber boots between the door and the car.

Can´t advise specifically about motors for the E-windows as mine´s gym-windows.

Hoping that´s of use.

Cheers for that, took the stereo apart tonight to check the leds, but nothing looked wrong, that's about as much as I'm doing, so will just leave it alone..

Will have a check at the wiring at the weekend, maybe even whip the door card off if I'm feeling brave..
