Oil service query

Featured Replies

I bought with Octavia as a workhorse with the intention of doing my own servicing for the first time. I intend to do the oil and fuel filters tomorrow, but am just wondering do you need a new sump plug, or can you just reuse the current one?

Apologies for the basic question, but its all new to me!

if it doesn't leak keep the old sump plug...I use the same one for 4 years

Or buy a pella 6000 and you can make oil changes even simpeler.

extracting oil is a bad idea...off topic

Not to mention slow, and doesn't pick up the sludge. VERY bad idea, in general. Okay for when you overfill, but that's about it.

sump plug and washers cost near nothing from Skoda. I think it was less than €1 here for my last one. Mine was weeping a little around the washer. a fresh water saves you having to tighten it as much to seal so can't be a bad thing IMO.
