Has anyone else had problems with octavia tdi stalling while being driven

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I have a 2 year old octavia tdi 1.6 estate, and for the last 18 months it keeps stalling while being driven, either in town or on the outside lane of the M6. I have taken it back 5 times to the dealer, and they say they can't find the problem,as when I restart the car it wipes the memory. It happened 3 times on xmas eve so I brought out the Skoda mechanic, he found the problem, wrote it all down for the dealers mechanics and they still can't fix it, they have had it for a week now. The guy who came out said that he had the same problem 6 months ago with a AUDIO A3 . Is this a normal fault.....

Hope to hear from someone who can help....

P.S I know nothing about cars, so please keep it simple lol..

Thank you Spaniel

Do you have the piece of paper that he wrote the details down on? It could be pretty much anything.

Would be interesting to know if normal "stalls" log in the ECU and can be recovered by VCDS. There must be some fault codes in there for the Dealers to see.

Engine cutting out on a motorway?

You need to ring Skoda UK (08457 745745) and mention that the seriousness of this fault may warrant a chat with a VOSA representative, then you'll be heard, trust me.

What I can make of the report goes like this ...

POO16: CAM GG0 / CRANK 928

Check intermitant and such ...GFF (ODIS)see( scale?) not cleared.

No tpi at present, But Audi has TPI 2028552/2 software update (measure scale) 01A099. Obviously not same fix for skoda, but VW Group aware of this.

Dealer to investigate

Sorry I can't read all of his hand writing, dealership has got a copy though

I will try and scan and upload sheet

Thank you

Spaniel

well, POO16 is timing belt related according to a little googling. Could have skipped a tooth or could be a problem with the cam sensor.

Im new to VAG so no idea if the TDI's are prone to this or not. Im guessing someone with more experience will pop along soon enough
