Droplinks, again...

Featured Replies

I realise that this is yet another thread on droplinks, but I can't find an answer.

I have got FSD's ready to go on my VRS with H&R lowering springs, do I need to change my drop links at all or is OEM okay, they were brand new 6 months ago and seems a waste to change them unneccesarily.

Thanks

Matt

How much lower are the springs? I suspect they will be fine.

only 20mm lower, but this is the first car I have done anything like this to, so wanted to make sure I wasn;t going to muck anything up.

That will be fine.

Are you sure those H&R springs are 20mm lower than vRS springs? Or just 20mm lower than standard (which is what most lowering springs usually specify...)

Either way, a 20mm drop isn't going to cause an issue here. Mounting point is the same regardless, and they're not going to foul anything with that short a drop. You've still got a good amount of travel.

Simple answer no

Regardless of most suspension change on the VRS the STD drop links work, in fact there are no other drop links that are designed for the need of lowering the VRS because the ARB and drop link set up is generally such a good set up there are capable of various suspension swaps, unlike the none VRS which has a different ARB set up that causes the drive shaft to foul the ARB .

You are absolutely fine keeping your drop links buddy

Koni FSD's and H&R are a great set up too. Those H&R will only lower car around 15mm although state 20mm but as your std springs would have worn slightly you never see the full 20mm.

Thanks for all the help, really looking forward to getting these on the car now.

You won't be disappointed trust me, I had that set up for 2 years and only replaced to go lower with coilovers. My mate bought the FSD's and H&R's off me 3 years ago and they are still going strong.

I wish like hell that they did FSD's for vRS Estates... :(

Same set up on mine, droplinks will be fine, just wish the FSD's were a bit firmer, found them to be only a bit firmer than stock, and very little available for the VRS, be nice if Bilstien did shocks for the VRS, mine is only about 10mm lower.

I seem to remember Rob finding the FSD for his VRS red estate.

Hmm, might have to send him a pm. I can't find evidence of the right rears for a vRS Estate. Anything else but a bleeding vRS Estate. :(

As far as I know B6's and B8's are available for vRS hatch and estate.

Thanks for all the help, fitted them at the weekend and everything went back together fine. Noticed some rust on the standard springs as they came off. The drop was between 10 and 15mm but the ride is 10x better than what it was.
