SERVICE INTERVAL FOR 1.4 TSI DSG

Featured Replies

HI,

NEW Octavia Jan 2012 1.4 TSI DGS Elegance.

Just coming up to 12 months old.

Service interval is set at 20000 miles......

I have only done 5000 mainly of jouneys less than 15 miles.

Service interval appears too long ? Is this normal ?

I would like at least an oil change.

I will be contacting main dealer soon.

Will they just do an oil change on request and also what additional servicing will they or you advise to keep the car fully serviceable and within terms of warranty.

I am assuming they will reset the service program reset ?

Just as a sideline >>>>>>. My mpg is 33.5 based on full petrol recording ...... which i am happy with considering my short jouneys etc.

When i have a longish run i reset the computer and i easily achieve 45mpg.

Cheers

keppy

With mileage less than 10k/year I'd go for fixed annual servicing

Hi Keppy,

Looks like you've answered your own questions do you have an engineering backgroud or just a good dollup of common sense!

The service schedule issue is covered on page 35 in the brochure which you can download if you wish

+1 on what both gadget man and Silver advise. They come set as standard for variable service intervals from the factory, but for the miles you're doing you need to be on the fixed service plan and get your oil changed every 12 months.

Just ring the dealer up and book it in for it's first service and get the to change it to the fixed plan so it'll bring up the service light at the correct time. Not worth the risk leaving it on variable IMO as I'm guessing the 1st thing to wear if the oil's not tip top on the TSI would be the turbo- Ouch! I had the 1.4 manual hatch which returned 44mpg according to the maxidot over the 12 months I had it, though I did drive conservatively most of the time which used to drive SWMBO barmy as I always had the maxidot set to MPG!!!!

On the TSi cam chain, I personally

would change the oil every 6k!
