I was wondering if anyone knew any decent companies that repair chips to cars (chips away etc).

Basicly I noticed a chip on the front drivers side quarter panel just infront of the drivers door. It looks as if someone has hit the car with a sheet of metal and it has chipped a line of paint off the car about 10mm long by 1mm across. It looks ad if it has gone down to the metal so I want to get it sorted asap. Could you give me an idea of how much it might cost as well please.

The funny thing is I do not have a clue how it happened. I washed the car thouroughly on 31st dec and it deffo wasnt there then and I gave it a quick once over yesterday and didnt notice it then (its fairly obvious) but when I was outside today I saw it. The car has been parked on the driveway overnight in a quiet residential street and has not left it since being washed yesterday.

Any ideas how it could have happened?

I've not been having the best of luck with this car so far. It had its wing mirror ripped off when it was less than 6 week old, it has a few electrical gremlins, the heater randomly decides to cook me now and again and the plastic stuff that stops stone chips on the rear passanger side door is starting to lift and has a load of dirt under it.

Its a pity really as I really like the car but all this has tainted the ownership of it quite a bit. Its not even 10 weeks old yet and all this has happened to it already. :(

The two painters in the Elgin area I know and trust are, tj's paint shop in pinefield ind est, and mike booth at auto station out at Lhanbryde. I have used tj over the years and never had to go back to get anything re-done, and his prices are good too. Mike I have have also known for many years from when I worked at partco/unipart, though I have never used mike, he has the reputation oh being the best car sprayer in moray. If you ever get a ding in your car that's not broke the paint there is a guy in Keith who is s##t hot at the paintless dent removal who travels about, if you ever need him give me a pm and I will give you his number.

Best to go on local recommendations like you just got ^. Most of the chip and scratch guys are franchises so quality can vary but I've rarely heard bad stories about any of them tbh.

+1 on this from Aspman. Recommendations count for a lot. With a bit of luck you should be able to get away without a panel respray, but with bodyshops it's a bit hit and miss. Normally the little guy does the best job in my experience and as your car is new I'd not try and cut any corners- your dealer may know of some reputable bodyshops?

On the note of repairs. Have ended up with two dents in my old Fabia Mk1, does anyone know of any places to get them sorted out. Know it's an old car but would like it repaired, heard there are dent repair companies, any recommendations for London?
