hi there, that symbol is the engine warning light you need to go to a workshop and get it looked at ?

Yep its the EML (Engine Management Light) which needs a dealer or someone with VCDS to read the fault code.

There is a map of Briskoda members with VCDS in my signature.

Safe to drive ? And the hand book says the symbol is for the exhuast :/

Exhaust, emissions, EML all the same thing.

Needs looking at ASAP.

Engine management light, as long as there's no drop in performance or owt noticeable it should be safe to drive. Mine comes and goes when it feels like it, due to an intermittent fault..

Remember I said should be safe I take no responsibility if it's something serious.

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

Ok can i just take it to skoda tomorrow or a garage ?

A decent indépendant garage (with good diagnostic equipment) dealer or VCDS owner will all give you the answer to the problem.

It will be fine to drive it there, just don’t ignore it, as Tech1e say it needs looking at ASAP.

Is this something thats going to cost allot for them to find the problem ?

A dealer can typically charge around £70 for a diagnostic check (depending if you are a regular customer or not).

A VCDS owner will invariably do the same scan for ‘a drink’.

Hi Again

It could be so many things ! I would not think it is the oil if it came on after sorting the level out.

Having a look in the list of members with VCDS there is about 4/5 around you, I would check them out, and send PM's and see if they can help ?

PS If I was a lot closer I would do it, but you are too far away

I would but I lent my lead to a member in October and haven't had it returned yet.

Got it done and all for free :)

Well come on then what was it ?

Nothing really ...just the light playing up

Nothing really ...just the light playing up

So did the place you got the diag done not identify any fault codes?

  • Author

No he just got rid of the light ....i went to a garage my family use allot but i didnt think they would have the equipment. But turns out they did so he did everyhing for free and gave the car a little look over as i only got it a few days ago

So basically after the ecu sees the fault again the light will come back on. It lights up for a reason you know. Deleting the fault code does not fix the problem

Light will be back on within a week

Light will be back on within a week

Although, this is probably the best way of diagnosing the fault. Clear all the fault codes, so you clear any historical ones, spurious blips etc then when it triggers again it is easier to track down the genuine cause
