Quickie Question re. Suspension

Featured Replies

Just a quick question, does the octavia share suspension with the a3? Just curious if coilovers from a 2007 a3 s-line 2.0tdi will fit my 2011 octavia vrs 2.0tdi? I read somwhere they would but i'm struggling to find part numbers online that would clarify :) cheers guys!

I very much doubt it, the suspension will be designed for different weights

as above, they probably fit but the spring specs will be all wrong as the octy is a heavier car at the back

A lot of the suspension components on mk5 golf platform cars (octy, a3, golf, leon etc) are physically interchangable but as has been said spring and damping rates vary to compensate for the various vehicle weights.

HOWEVER.. you may be on to something with the A3 comment - I have just bought a Bilstein B16 kit for my vRS. If you google the vRS part number "48-135245" it comes up as also applicable for A3 fitment too.

Ye guys i thought the weight may be the difference, the octavia is 1455kg and the a3 1350kgaccording to parkers. However i found one of two connections whilst looking online and cannot find them again, such as matching part numbers etc.

Cheers for that Rob mate thats a great help, il take a look at that part number :)

i would make an educated guess and say yes they probably would, reason why ive just fitted h&r lowering springs to mine and on the box it lists a3s and golfs etc.

but to make sure find out the part no. of said coilovers and look them up on the manufactures website and see if they cross reference to make sure!

check this out for the audi

Check the axle weights, they're on the inside of the door jamb on the passenger side (for UK cars anyway).

Probably 1100/1100kg for yours, if it's a vRS TDI hatch.

You would need to then check those figures against an A3 that this kit is compatible with, to be 100% sure, if you can't find any further info online. But with a decent suspension manufacturer they should be able to confirm for you, certainly if you provide them with axle loadings.

And it does make a difference, as I know some people have taken the chance and then wonder why the suspension change hasn't lived upto expectations :)

chances are the Octavia prob matches up to the A3 Sportback I would imagine.
