Mk1 vrs fuel consumption?

Featured Replies

What are they like on Petrol?

Mainly B roads and some town driving would be done with an occasional Motorway trip.

My son is anxious to replace his Toledo tdi with one of these.

Thanks

mines poo round town short journey 17mpg maybe 18 motorway seen 43.2mpg at 70mph

Most of my driving is in town at night, usually reads 24-26 MPG. can't really say for B roads because I'm not on them that often, so when I am I don't worry about economy ;)

Really if your son is bothered by fuel consumption stick with a TDi. But the mk1 octy VRS has got to be the best bang for buck vehicle in the world ! It's just whoooo hoooo I've seen as low as 7mpg on a track day and as much as 45.3 when driving like the queens chauffeur.

My car is always on b roads and round town, never sees a motorway or a duelcarage. Shes on 29.9 but shes had the rear 2 callipers sticking on bad for the last 8 weeks. Changed them yesterday so im expecting that to go up by 2 -5mpg.

I'm just about to fill mine up today, but it's done 326 miles to this tank (fuel light coming on). Its' been mainly to work and back, which is slow traffic, a little bit of motorway and to be honest, very little thrashing about.

It always get's Shell V-Power as I seem to get more MPG from it. I reckon I see 27-30mpg with usual driving around town only, 20-25 when out for a quick blast and not going on the trip counter, but working it out, I managed 43mpg on a 400 mile round trip, mostly motorway, with nothing over 70mph.

Thanks for the replies lads.

So all in all pretty good average then for what you get.

@ group1 rs

He is not one bit bothered about it, but I am as some of it could end up coming out of my pocket :D

I get 35ish mpg on B roads if driven normally. Obviously less if driving enthusiastically.

Ahh that's what good dads are for !

Just filled up and stuck the stats in Fuelly. 29.9mpg this time round. And I forgot about a couple of spirited drives also, so more than acceptable in my book :)

I alway look at my mpg and if its over 30 mpg then I'm happy 7/10 it is!

If you spank it then bye bye fuel!

With my daily commute a re mapped upped my mpg by around 2.5 but depends if he could get insured with re map?

Another mpg thread ...

If you type vrs fuel consumption.

Chose the mk1 section as well

Took me less time to search that than you did to post your question, and a kitten is still alive somewhere.

@ vectra1. as said earlier, mine is really poor in the city but very good on the open road and starts to get bad again at motorway speeds. I drive all over Ireland really mostly N roads, My averages with sensible driving are about 25mpg in town, 44mpg on N roads and about 39 on Motorways. I've had the computer showing 50+mpg on 100+ mile journies and in general, with petrol at €1.55 I'm getting about 400 miles to €70 avoiding too much city driving.

any journey less than 10 miles you're not going to see over 36mpg because the warm-up seems to use a lot more fuel.

Hope that's what you were after.

Any nice ones for sale in your area?

I'm always keeping an eye on the price of them, none have particularly caught my eye recently.

There seems to be a few of them that have been floating around for a while on Donedeal. Sent you a PM

The red one in kildare looks clean enough but its been on quite a while so you'd wonder.

Mine does around 300 miles to a tanks doing the same sort of driving, bit of town, b roads and motorway

Its takes about 66 quids worth of optimax to fill tank

@ AndyBohen

He would but the cost of getting it over to here and paying all duty would probably make it too expensive.

PM me with details please.

thanks
