Skoda Stream Problem

Featured Replies

Dear all,

My Skoda Stream Radio (on my Octy2 2.0TDi Amb) has just 'died' (no display, no output). I have phoned the garage and they can't help until next Wednesday (when they are again going to try and fix the ongoing wind noise - see other thread). Is there anything simple that I could do that might rectify this, or do I have to do my daily 2 hour commute in silence?

Thanks,

Nick

get an Ipod and some speakers????

have you checked the fuses?

Did think of the IPOD, sadly don't have one and don't think I would get it past SWMBO.

As for the fuses, I am really clueless about car mechanic stuff. Where are the fuses and what can I do when I find them?

As a side point: When I start my Octy in my garage in the morning, I get a electrical burning smell. I put it down to something to do with the coil, but is this normal?

Thanks,

Nick

The location of the fuses will be in the manual (I have no idea where they are). Not too sure about the burning smell although it definatly is not the coil as diesels do not have them. When the car is in the dealers, tell them about the smell and they may be able to trace it unless you fancy having a try.

I would drop by the dealer - burning smells & cars don't mix very well. Sounds to me like something is shorting out, which is never a good thing...

I think the fusebox is located under the hood, at the drivers side, as close as possible to the dashboard. It's a small black box. You'll have to take the lit of, it will probably have a small paper inside which indicates which fuse does what. And if not, it will surely be described in the manual.

Certainly something to check (because you can do it yourself easily), I think that the dealer will start looking there too.

On the other hand, if the fuse of a radio blows, when it's not playing REALLY loud, it might have something to do with another problem, might indicate a defective streamradio too then ;)

Now I'm depressed! The radio wouldn't turn on when I started the car at lunchtime - so not a high-volume problem. It was working fine on my way to work.

I really like the car, just a shame I am having these problems.

Burning smell, do you think it will make it to Wednesday? last time I had a burning smell smoke started coming out of my steering column and it was me ignition switch shorting, never moved so fast in my life, it was an older car though not a new one.

Good news: fiddled with the fuses and now the radio is working again. Maybe a loose connection?

Thanks for the advice.
