easiest way to get USB connectivity in Octavia mk2 Vrs?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

What is the easiest way to get USB connectivity in my 2006 octavia Vrs, so i can play MP3? Ive got the stock Stream HU. I was thinking of getting an aftermarket single or double din HU but i was unsure if there maybe a USB kit for the standard HU?

Cheers

Jon.

I would be interested too. I have a line in in the armrest, but I would love to see the mp3 and control via the stereo as I listen to tons of audiobooks in the car.

would be perfect if it showed on the whitedot display too.

I have seen a couple on ebay for appx £50 and would be happy to lose the 6cd changer if I gained a usb port.

anyone got one of these? is the sound quality reasonable? has to be better than the fm usb transmitter that I have now...

If its just a normal single din stereo your looking at on ebay Halfords has some at moment on offer £49.99 with USB and direct ipod control if you plug a bit of fruit into it.

Here is one a little more but with bluetooth

I would like to use the existing stream mp3. there are adaptors on ebay that replace the 6cd unit in the boot. think the look would be spoilt with an aftermarket head unit in the dash and besides, imo it is a quality unit and sound from stock.

I replaced mine with a VW headunit and MDI :) :)

The Stream/MP3 is fairly awful to be honest. The changer replacement is probably your best bet really, you can hide it in the glove-box.

I've got an 07 VRS with MP3 Stream HD, I fitted the below. I know its not USB but works great with my Iphone

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-AUX-IN-IPOD-MP3-FABIA-OCTAVIA-ROOMSTER-SUPERB-YETI-BOLERO-STREAM-2M-CABLE-/141101374202?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item20da4c1afa

Still keeps the 6 disc changer and the cd in the HD. You have to push the pins out the white connector to connect to the back of the HD but easy job. Works a treat and you can run the plug to anywhere.

Mine comes outs by the ashtray and I plug my phone in happy days.

I think Skoda / VAG MDI will work with a Stream MP3.

Gives full functionality with the Maxidot & MFSW (assuming those functions were actually available at the time the car was made).
