Hi,

Looking for advice and you have been helpful in the past so here goes.

I have two new (never mounted) Nokian WRG2 tyres from last year (a mix up on delivery ended up with me getting 6 tyres instead of 4 and the company said i could keep the other two as it would be more expensive to arrange a pick up of them).Nokian no longer make this tyre (G2) and have replaced it with the WRA3

.My question is, would it be okay to fit the A3's and the G2's to the same car, ie A3's on the front and G2's on the back or vice versa.they would be exactly the same specs such as load , speed rating diameter etc, the only slight difference is in tread pattern. both types of tyres are assymetrical inside outside type.

As usual internet gives a tousand and one differnet answers to this.

Thankyou in advance.

Advice is always best to have four identical tyres, however to my mind what your propose should be fine. Same manufacturer all round and an identical pattern on the same axial. rockhopper is doing exactly the same for the same reason but Conti's TS810 and 830 without issue.

Hope of help,

TP

Best person to ask is Nokian, I believe they are quite helpful.

However, it should be perfectly OK to fit 2 on the front of one pattern, & 2 on the back of the other.

Indeed, if the A3 is a direct replacement for the G2 in Nokian's range, then IIRC it is an EU legal requirement that the new version may be fitted on the same axle as the superseded pattern, so obviously it is equally OK for them to be fitted on different axles..

The Plumber is right, as long as you have two identical tyres front and two other identical rear, should work fine.(only same specs , of course.)

Thanks for the advice.Been in touch with Nokian and got a speedy reply that it would be okay to fit both models to the same car, but they recomended the A3's to the rear and the G2's to the front (no specific reason given).

Thanks again

Maybe so the G2's will wear out first, then you'll have the latest/newest tyres all round?

My winter Hankooks are wearing at the same rate front and back, so I haven't bothered swapping them from their position last year.

My advice is to put more details in your thread subject line. Sorry I can't help with the tyres.

Happy Days.

Because the newer A3's have a "better" grip and the better tyres should always be on the back wheels. Don't want the back overtaking the front in any circumstances!
