Knocking noise on start up Octy 2

Featured Replies

My car has been towed in today with a heavey knocking noise on start up, seems ok on a run at 70 mph runs like a dream , seems to go away if you blip throttle. RAC guy not sure , said best to get it checked . Could a lifter or injector....has anyone experienced it , the cars done a massive 181k , and usually runs like a dream !!!

Oh its a BXE engine 1.9tdi

So are Skoda doing the tensioner even before any problems? I'm a little worried that I only have 6 months warranty left.

Sorry posted in wrong section

Just updating my post , taken the car to Skoda today, turns out it needs a new camshaft , valves and also having cambelt , water pump done at the same time , as a pre cautionary measure. The cams show signs of wear , as a result of a car with 181 k on the clock . Ive always used 5w30 , and was asked if had been run on 10w40 , which it has`nt.

Is this sort of mileage about right for cam shaft and valves too fail,it is a Taxi and has being used hard for its life. Having it repaired, (£1500) and now need to think about getting the car replaced in the future.
