Funny VCDS / locking thing

Featured Replies

I activated anti-hijack on a mk5 golf GTI today, and all was well, but got a call later saying the boot was locked shut and wasn't opening on the keyfob or the lid logo/handle. Very odd, so I plugged it back in and deactivated anti-hijack just in case (I saw no direct correlation) but it still did it, I also tried deactivating and reactivating selective unlocking, and the car was doing "selective locking deactivated" with it ticked, and not ticked..... Well weird. Now, I gathered the rear wiper has been dead for a year anyway - again, not sure there is a link there. No fault codes either in modules 09 or 46. Began wondering if maybe leaking water from the rear wash could have seeped down and gummed it up?

Looking at the groups in module 46 - group 003 had a module for bootlid handle - and I could see it changing to activated when lifted, but it was saying "not oper," (not operational I gather) when left alone, The same was on the module for the remote bootlid activation, and pushing the remote button did nothing at all.

Is it just coincidental I plugged in VCDS and coded in he anti-hijack, and it did this?

It's just a coincidence.

Could be a bad earth to the boot/tailgate upsetting things ? or it could be the control module for rear wiper / boot release, or like you say water getting in someware and upsetting the electronics. cheers - Stuart
