Highways Agency

Featured Replies

I appreciate the job the highways agency does, and i'm not complaining about them....

Was driving home from work down the M40 as ever, and there was the familiar Highways Agency Range Rover cruising in the inside lane, I was quite happy sat at 80-85mph in the outside lane. Then the muppets infront see it and think it's a Police car ( :orb_loser ) and on come the brakes, crawl past at 70 and then back up to 80 again.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY..... can people not tell the difference between a Police car and the highways agency vehicles.

Happens on almost a daily occurance, even when the range rover's sat in the slip roads on the other side of the motorway, still the brakes come on!!!

Sorry rant (well sorta) over.

I applied to do that job actually, the Range Rover one, not the braking one.

Isn't it exactly to create that same problem you are on about similar vehicles = bigger deterrant?

Actually makes me tempted to get a fluorescent yellow safety jacket and drive with that on during my trip to work.

That's not illegal as I'm not impersonating an officer of the law in any shape or form, but I bet people would be tempted to shift out of my way ;)

Really does work! I used to have my PDA on a holder in the dash and they saw that (thinking camera etc) and a reflective jacket and lept out the way!

One of the other guys cycles to work along the cycle track which is a little dodgy as all the neds hang out drinking. They see him in a yellow hi-vis and run!

I used to get this all the time when I drove home in my old Vauxhall Omega like a lunatic around the Durham Dales. I was wearing a hi-vis orange safety jacket after finishing work. People used to brake, pull over, get their passenger to do a check. It got quite amusing after a while doing it to the boy racers... it was never as effective without the orange safety jacket. Neither was the Omega effective either when I swapped it for an Octy :)

Police wouldn't of even sniffed at 80mph anyway

 - may just go buy myself a jacket again ;)
