Featured Replies

Thats ma cruise control fitted activated and working like a charm.

Just one thing though, does anyone else get a light on the dash to indicate that its on? I get nothing, working perfectly just no light, is it supposed to have one?

Mine hasn't...

ah cool, i wondered if i missed a wire or something. Thanks

You won't on a MK1. The give away that the system is on is you don't have your foot on the accelerator but your speed isn't dropping :p

haha, yeah, i thought it wasnt working when i first put it on, as i was going downhill, then the road ascended to some traffic lights and i was surprised as it started pulling and had to hit the brakes.

Happy anyway

Very happy days mate, alot of gizmo for not alot of money.

Nah no light on mine sir. I thought it was broken too the first time I used it because of that! Haha.

I did it on my Cordoba and was also expecting a light... thought I'd done something wrong!

Got a light on the Octy MK2 though...

yup, im so glad i have tdi

Out of interest does anyone tell their insurance company when this mod is done?

  • Author

ooh i hadnt thought of this

i wouldn't premiums are bad enough without giving them more money for nothing, and it's oem parts so...

I doubt they would ever know and it could have been an option on the car for all they know.

Phil

told mine, but mine was a modified policy so any mods could be added without adding up the premium (as long as it wasn't over 40bhp).

hate to say it, having worked for an insurer in the past, you are obliged to tell them, to any change to the vehicle, say you had a crash, and they see you have added stuff to make the car drive on its own, they can find an easy way to weezle out of a claim..

But my cruise control was there from new, before registration it was added, so the car as registered has had this......... ahem

they would have to prove you fitted it...

however posting mods you do online,if you are not updating it with your insurer is kinda unwise.

As I found out to my cost when my Vw camper was stolen. They paid less due to my very honest description of it in a stolen advert on a few Vw forums. The adjusters do visit these boards when they need to.

too true phoned em today, another £17

It never even crossed my mind in the old car!

Drove it for months with my retro-fitted CC!

Ooops!

£17 isn't bad... I'd pay that for the convinience of having cruise control espcially the ammount we got to Germany etc.
