Very Odd lighting fault, with code

Featured Replies

Ok, car is 2012 vRS so is under warranty so will be going back unless its something simple.

Came have from work and on the way back got a bulb failure light right front indicator, they were flashing fast that side (well indicating fast on dash but not on actual car)

Got back home and looked and the right front indicator and it was on permanently all the time (lit at about 1/2 brightness) but doesn't flash at all.

Locked the car and it stayed on permanently, left the car for a bit and went out and it was still on.

Scanned the car and got 2 fault codes, cleared them and only 1 came back. other code was Bulb for Blinkers; Front Right, short circuit to plus

Anyone had any experience with this fault code?

So far I have

1. Disconnected the battery, left for a while and reconnected - no difference.

2. Cleared fault codes, light on dash goes out, as soon as the indicator is used fault code comes back.

3. Swapped head light from P/S to D/S to eliminate headlight (and bulb) fault - no change.

I have had to take the bulb out at the minute to prevent my battery going flat overnight :-(

Could water have got into the wiring somewhere? May be worth checking the plug into the indicator.

I've removed the headlight and the plug was dry and pins were fine.

The wiring to the 09 central control module wiring looked fine and dry to, at a quick glance.

It happened when i went from indicating from left to right. Very weird. I also saw a fault code on : indicator switch, implausible signal, but it didn't come back.

Faulty relay maybe?

Faulty relay maybe?

Not sure, from the wiring diagram it looks like the indicator is controlled directly by the 09 CCM, so i guess its either a live voltage shorted to the indicator live wire to the CCM or CCM fault?

Indicator bulb is labeled M7

I would try a new bulb, or check the earth connection @ 124

I would try a new bulb, or check the earth connection.

I tried the other headlight (including bulb), on this car I don't think an earth problem would cause this, plus it doesn't even try to blink. a bad earth also wouldn't cause the bulb to be permanently lit even with the key out and car locked.

I both love these problems and hate them at the same time, lol :-)

Dealer has diagnosed it as a CCM fault, it has been ordered and is being fitted tomorrow. fingers crossed :-)

Don't you just have faith in new vehicle electrics when components fail 4 months in, lol

Whats a CCM? Could it have been anything to do with the new xexons you have fitted? (as per your other thread).

The CCM is the central control module, dealers refer to it as J519, VCDS see's it as Module 09. It is responsible for a lot of things including all of the lighting control.

I have only ordered the Bi Xenon projectors and they haven't been delivered yet (coming from turkey) so they didn't cause the problem. Its just one of those things - electrical items unfortunately can fail and on mine it is most probably only the transistor inside the CCM that operates the d/s front indicator bulb, but that can't be replaced individually. bit bad though on a 4-5 month old car

Its not good on a 4-5 month car,at least its covered by warranty,i remember reading a post by another member a while ago that had the same problem, cant find the post now.

I think I saw that as well, got the car back now. Module was faulty, has been replaced and all is now good :-)

I was about to say its a faulty module. a guy over here (Australia) had the exact same issue after installing an aftermarket HID kit. so perhaps take care when installing yours.

luckily, I have not had this issue with my kit.
