Sun Roof Screen

Featured Replies

Still getting used to the new Yeti and it's quirks. One I have been suprised with was the sun roof screen closing itself after you have left the car. I have twice had the screen back whilst driving and left it in this state when garaged to find when I enter the Yeti the following day it has closed by itself, very clever. Are there any other self closing, resetting items I should look out for, except of course the auto lighting. These little things give you something to brag about with the I couldn't own a Skoda brigade which unfortunately is still around

As you have an Elegance, you should have the rain sensor, so you can expect the car to close windows and sunroof if it starts raining when the car is locked. You can turn this on and off in the MFD.

This is an auto feature and the screen closes if the temp drops too much or too low. :)

Nope it has nothing to do with the temperature. If the "Close windows and sunroof when it rains" feature is ticket in the MFD the shade closes on the sensor having sensed "rain". Be it dew or whatever. You will find the same if you just leave the car parked (and locked it of course) for a few minutes and it had started to rain after you had locked it. When you come back the blind would have closed.

I was puzzling over this yesterday, when the car DIDN'T close the screen when parked all day - yet I usually do find it has closed itself (but I've never caught it in the act!).

I presume that it closes as part of the keyfob function - holding down the "lock" button closes all windows, the sunroof and also the sunroof screen according to the manual. But, holding down the "close" button also fold the mirrors (on mine) and the manual doesn't say how long you need to hold the button down for, in either case. As I normally fold the mirrors when I leave the car it may be that I am closing the screen as well - but I don't know if the time lapse is the same for both functions. Yesterday I definitely folded the mirrors but the screen stayed open, so maybe if I'd held the button a shade longer the screen would have closed as well.

I'll ttest it when the weather is warmer.

If you hold the fob Lock button for too long then the blind will start to close, yes. You won't really notice when you get in as with a second's worth of press it will only move a few centimeters at a time. The moment you release the button the blind will stop. It does not close all the way. It just moves for however long the button is pressed.

I don't think that I hold the button for long enough for the screen to close fully in that time - it takes quite a while from the fully open position, which is where Mrs Gnomeface normally likes it during daylight hours, and I've never found it part-closed. The 'Global Open/Close' on my Jaguar XF works differently - once it is triggered it closes everything without needing continuous pressure on the button - so it may be that I've just assumed that the Yeti works in the same way, although the manual does say that the universal close function only operates whilst the button is held down. I'll play with it some time and find out exactly what's going on.

Now on my second SM - both with the 'roof' option.

Personally, I reckon it is temperature related. Normally the blind will close by itself but only when the ambient temperature is cold - and it does it on the driest of dry days. It doesn't appear to shut on hot days.

Another handy hint that I came across by accident (bumpy road) is that one stab on the button moves the screen all the way. Holding the button in means it'll cease to move as soon as the digit is removed. Even the illustrious Rothwell didn't know it did that.... :giggle:

Rain only closes a sunroof in tilted position - speaking from experience :0)

It's known to anyone who knows what's in the handbook.

There's a lot of confusion on this topic.

If your car has the rain closing function, and if it is activated in the MFD, the panoramic roof and its sun screen and the other windows will close after approximately 12 hours even if it is not raining.

If my aged memory serves me right, the 'finger held on button' thing wasn't in the manual for TIBET 1 - I agree it is for TIBET II.

Time is not the deciding factor on the self closing screen function (I'll take your word for it that it closes after 12 hours) - I can assure you it'll close within 20 minutes of leaving it on its own in cold weather.
