Need to replace a 10 year old creative soundworks digital 2.1 system with a new one as its becoming faulty. Was looking at offerings from creative and Logitech but wondered what else is ok?

Would like something with a cables volume control

Harman Kardon speakers from Ebay?

I've got some ancient HK speakers I got with a Dell about 12yr ago and they still sound really good.

Corsair sp2200, read some reviews about them, arguably the best speakers for the money.

I had a set which were very good, they did go faulty though but I was upgraded to the £250 sp2500s for £50!

HK are great, I have a set though they are in the loft at the moment!

I have a set of Microlab FC330 's and they sound fantastic for the money..they are actually far too cheap !!

JBL Creatures are very good for the money. Had several sets over the years and always been impressed with them.
