07 Octy VRS Mod Help..

Featured Replies

Hello gents,

Ok well, im currently waiting for final bit of funds and ill be making a purchase. I've got a few options to think about and have a liking a certain car but i doubt its going to be there in two-three weeks so just making some back up plans..

So if the car im looking at has gone, im looking at a 07 Octy VRS FSI. Ill be checking that the tyres are evenly warn, Ill be checking that its had a new cambelt and waterpump (if not ill do it) a full service history, and finally that its been looked after (that's all i can currently find to check on) and would be looking at between £4.5 - 6.5k.

Ok so once the car has arrived, there is one thing that i don't like.. The cd unit in the car.. im a bit of a gadget geek and the current system looks a bit dated.. Im not very clued up with cars, or there interiors/electronics or the current technology available.

I'm after something that will bring the interior a nice new modern feel, Would like touch screen but its not a must. I would like bluetooth to be built in if thats possible so i can us my Samsung SIII. I've seen these Parrot systems but i really dont fancy having something bulky on show, id rather it be a inbuilt thing.. but i don't know if that's a possibility with current car tech. c

My question is does anyone know any nice units, or suggestions/warnings?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

p.s anyone ever fitted monitors/lcd screens or w.e they are in the headrest so kids can watch movies?

Get an RNS 510/Columbus touchscreen radio (approx £500) and fit either a Fiscon bluetooth kit (approx £200) or an oem bluetooth, either of those bluetooth kits will work through the columbus nav, you can't see anything, all hidden away, but you have a phone button on the columbus and you can dial, answer calls etc all through the touch screen. sorted!

Good luck with the search btw!!

Or the cheaper RCD510/Bolero if you don't want sat nav.

If your looking for a cheap alternative I would recommend the Pioneer that I have in my Golf,

It looks awesome, built in parrot system, loads of outputs and inputs and works nicely.

you should be able to pick one up for around £400 or below.
