Auto Express review and road test

...and another "interior and gadgets" review.

Am I the only person in the UK noticing the downgrade of suspension, the missing spare wheel, the thimble of fuel tank, and the high price? It's just like Honda Civic release a few years back when they put torsion beam back in, they broke an excellent driver's car.

Reviewers point out the larger boot. The boot did not really get bigger, it is the same boot as before plus 70l+ worth of spare wheel well area, except now if you wanted spare you'd have to fill 2/3rds boot floor area with it.

When the boot is 2ft+ deep and has secure mounts to safely put spare wheel and tools vertically in it, I will stop moaning about being robbed of a spare. Until then, the new Octavia 3 is another sofa on wheels, unsuitable for any serious motoring.

VAG/Skoda, instead of matching Korean makes with interior specification full of gadgets, perhaps you could look back at what sold your cars in the past. It was not gadgets, it was versatility, reliability and value for money, and on premium models also long distance cruising.

That is why I jumped ship and got myself an R36, and sold my space saver from my Octy in ten minutes!

Sold the Octy, blue? When? Did I miss this? Sorry for the thread hijack.

Looks a good write up and will certainly put the pressure on the Golf, however with the latest Golf being launched some of the buyers maybe tempted back, so to speak.
