Whistling on start up

Featured Replies

So I started the car up and began de-icing and straight away I noticed a whistling noise coming from the engine . I have heard it before and can also hear it on hard acceleration it is really bugging me now so what could it be ? Boost leak or turbo ?

Did the whistle start straight away or after a minute or so?

Does it go if you blip the throttle, then come back after another minute of ticking over?

If so, its the EGR valve & nothing to worry about

It started straight away and as soon as you blip the throttle it comes back as soon as the revs settle . I'm abit miffed lol

I would say nothing to worry about.. Mine whistles on idle.

Mine has whistled on idle for nearly 3 years.

Nothing to worry about.

"The ice caps have been melting for years, nothing to worry about" thats what they said now there going to kill everyone.

Just because its been there for years doesnt mean its ok.

Im interested in this aswell as i have this whistle!

I'm going to find a garage that can see if there is a boost leak
