I just bought a new superb with 57 km on the odometer. Is this a typical mileage reading for a new car ? 've checked out other vehicles in the showroom and they were around 40 km.

Sounds fine to me, sometimes cars are moved inter dealer to fullfill an order or maybe it needed a greater road test when PDi'd.

Im sorry but the other cars were around 20km not 40km. the guy said they had to drive it from the port but the port is only 10 km away from the show room here in kuwait. and why would a car require 57 km (approximately 50 minutes drive) to be tested its supposed to be new and working not friggin damaged and needing repair.

You're going to complain about 57km (35 miles) ?! :eek:

Don't see why myself. There may be a different outlook this abroad, but for new UK cars this is quite normal. As said previously, they get some distance under their wheels from PDI, moving round the dealership, moving from holding areas at ports, moving on and off transporters etc.

Forget about it and concentrate on getting some proper distance covered in her!

If you think it's been damaged and "needing repair" just because it's been driven 57 km............ :confused:

Mine had 100 miles on the clock when I picked it up. The salesman told me he'd taken it up a nearby steep bit of dual carriageway and it held 90 all the way up. That may have put some people off to know it had been tested, but I see that as positive. A DRIVER took my car out to see what it would do. Then I took it out and inverted in 50K later.

By the time you reach 100,000 miles, is it really gonna make much difference though? 0.0000035% more miles on the clock.

Just go out there and get it nicely run in, and enjoy it.

Also bear in mind that they could have just reset it to zero without your knowledge anyway
